Starwood Tries to Raze Low-Rent Housing, Westchester United Fights Back

Starwood Capital Group, an international private investment company that manages assets of $42 billion, wants these families to leave so that its development team can demolish the affordable-housing complex, and make way for a hotel and housing for young professionals and adults over age 55.

Kindergarten Rally Draws 300 to New Rochelle

Last week, supporters of a grass-roots effort to require kindergarten in New York rallied at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in New Rochelle to call on the state legislators to support a bill that would d just that. The group, Westchester United, drew nearly 300 people to the church to thank state Sen.
