Starwood Capital Group, an international private investment company that manages assets of $42 billion, wants these families to leave so that its development team can demolish the affordable-housing complex, and make way for a hotel and housing for young professionals and adults over age 55.

According to the proposal, Starwood's plan is designed to limit the number of children who would attend Port Chester schools, which are cramped for space.
